I'm considering helical piles with relatively large diameter shafts (approximately 12" dia.).
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this condition. In particular I'm looking for information on what type of bolts or connectors are appropriate to be used for the coupling bolts. To bolt through the coupler and shaft, the length would exceed what is typically available or used for high-strength bolts. I could use threaded rods with nuts on each end. Lock nuts could be used to prevent loosening.
Just wondering if anyone can comment based on tried and tested methods / materials for this situation.
Thank you,
