helical curve for sweep

Im after sweeping a sketch down a curve, but the curve wants to be a slow helical curve, trying to model a twisting 3 core cable which twists once every 1m.


Can you draw a helical curve, then sweep a profile down it....maybe a curve using equations or something. then sweep a profile at 90 degrees to the curve down its full length


Its a bit hard to describe...

Ive attached a picture,I need to sweep all the coloured sections along with the cores and fillers etc using the profile shown down the length of the cable with a sweep of 1 helical turn per metre...


Anyone any idea, been racking my brains for the whole weekend....lol
