Would it be possible to analyze a barge loaded with asphalt using Mechanica/heat transfer? Specifically, the cold thick asphalt would be heated by immersing a heat source into the asphalt. The objective would be to determine thetime and energy required to heat the asphalt to such a temperature wherein the viscosity would allow the asphalt to be pumped out of the barge. Any suggestions, data, similar problems, etc would be greatly appreciated.
