Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how the ambient air temperature and humidity affects a bath containing a liquid (specific heat is unknown right now, but we will find that out soon). I would like to know how to calculate the affect of the ambient conditions on the heating or cooling of the liquid.(or vise versa?) Thank you in advance.

Jimbob20,

Insufficient information has been provided to give an answer . . . do we presume the process being considered is exposed to atmosphere? If so, then a psychrometric chart can aid you with your calcs. Ambient conditions, including temp, humidity, and wind speed will impact heat transfer.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response pmover. The process is open to the atmospheric conditions in the building where it can get hot and humid in the summer time. The machine is a wet wire drawing machine and it has a "soap" bath for lubrication and cooling of the dies. We would like to know if there is a way to figure out the affect that the ambient temperature and humidity has on the bath temperature. If there needs to be more information or I'm totally missing something, let me know. Thanks again.
