Does anyone have information on the design of heatsinks. Im lloking at using heatsinks to dissipate heat from circuits but need to know more about how best to design them. I would be grateful for any advice or direction to useful websites!

Cheers

Aavid Thermalloy and IMI-Marston are both major manufacturers of heatsinks. Why on earth would you want to design one? Most people do the thermal calcs for their design and buy a suitable extrusion from one of the manufacturers.

Elsewhere in Eng-Tips I posted a link to Semikron's website. thread238-119812

There are some thermal design notes in there.

Hi James.

The sites Scotty mentioned usually have tons of appnotes that explain the subject very well and in great detail.
