Heat from VFD? 1

Does anyone out there have a good method for calculating the heat generated by a VFD?

I look it up in the specs or ask the manufacturer. Its easier than thinking or figuring...

VFD's are pretty efficient. For a worst case number you could assume 5% of the full load output power.

I'd go with the 5%. Our VFD vendor selected an AC system for the MMC building and they even got it wrong and had to come back and add a second AC.
