hi,

I am trying to apply heat flux to the surface of an element, would the unit of the value that I enter be
Watt/m^2 of just Watt...

I know heat flux unit definition is W/m^2, but doesnt the Watt applied be divided by the area that it is applied to?

thanx

Robin

In Ansys heat fluxes are defined as being the heat rate per unit area. So W/m^2 would be applicable in your case. I've used other FE programs where a heat flux was simply a rate and independent of the area associated with that surface.
