Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I am looking for NFPA or ULC references for sizing and placement of heat collectors for sprinkler heads and heat detectors.

The heads and /or deflectors would be located approx. 20 feet from roof deck. Are local application protecting equipment (pre-action system).

NFPA 13 which governs the installation of fire sprinkler systems does NOT address heat collectors. Sprinklers are to be located within 12" of the roof deck (with a few exceptions). The idea of heat collectors has been around for probably as long as sprinklers have been around.

I truly doubt you will find anywhere that talks about sizing or placement of a heat collector.

Things I have seen around are standard 12" pie pans....before you do anything, get the local AHJs to sign off, because it is beyond the scope of NFPA 13.
