head studs

Im looking into buying a set of head studs for a sbc, they have been machined down in dia between the top and bottom threads.
Would this have a negative affect other than a reduction in there strength, im thinking in terms of how they would locate in the head and guessing they have been machined to add in the removale of heads.
Any thoughts?????

The reduced central diameter isn't there for ease of removal;it's there to make the stud stretch w/o overloading the threads. It's excellent design.

It actually increases the strength of the stud . If you look closely it will be turned down to the root dia of the threaded portion, thereby shareing the stress, instead of concentrating all the stress on the notched point that is the root of the thread.
