Hello, I need some help narrowing down some problems I am experiencing with my HDPE powder.

We have been using the same lot of material for about 10 years (We ordered a lot). For all of our products we have validated processes but recently the validated processes (that haven’t changed in years) have been producing parts with low quality (glazed and solid v porous). What could cause the sudden change?

All the equipment is verified on a regular basis so I don’t think the equipment is the problem…?

We control the storage conditions (temp, humidity, uv exposure).

Could it really just be oxygen degradation over all this time? Or is something else going on?

Yes. PE is made by free radical polymerization and free radicals will degrade it with time.
