I am trying to undertake assessments of various code capabilities (Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.) of Harmonic analysis. Having searched through the archives here I've managed to find nothing in Nastran regarding harmonic analysis. Does Nastran have this capability or is it referred to under another name?

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks.

Ansys has power full options to harmonic analysis try to use it; you can search "rotor dynamic" in Ansys help to find a little about that but for more documentations you should search this keyword at the internet, I have some tutorials about that; you can sent an email for me to access them.(basic and introduction trainings)
Rotor dynamics and harmonic analysis is very important discussions in the FEA analyzers so all of those software’s that you named has this option for analysis just try to use keywords that can help and direct you to find them

Hi

Nastran can do dynamics, both harmonic and transient. There are a number of options for response spectrum and random analysis as well. I believe that Nastran was originally developed for this kind of analysis.

I'm surprised that you haven't found any info on this. NEi, MSC or SIEMENS should have plenty of info.

Thomas
