Hello :

Is there any equation which could be used to evaluate tensile strength of bronze castings (alloys: C93700 & C93800) through its correlation to the hardness value like in steel ?

ibf;
I had to think about this post for a while and decided to look into my handy ASM handbook on line.

Yes, indeed there is an equation for estimating tensile strength from hardness testing of phosphor bronze castings. The equation is one of many conversion equations called Taylor's equations;

from Table 15 in ASM Handbook, Volume 8

(0.336–0.470) HB (Ksi)
(2.32–3.24) HB (MPa)

Here is the reference to the above;
W.J. Taylor, The Hardness Test as a Means of Estimating the Tensile Strength of Metals, J. Royal Aeronaut. Soc., Vol 46 (No. 380), 1942, p 198–209

Thank you very much metengr !
