Hardening Patent for 316L 1

Has anybody heard of a patent by Air Water Inc., Japan, to harden stainless steel 316L to 900 HV for a depth of about 20-30 micrometers? I am working with a subcontractor, but I'm having problems to eliminate defects, or crystal protrusion.
