Hiya all,
This is a repeat sort of of a question I have posted else where but with a minor difference.
I am thinking of using 817M40 as a mounting bar for a v-guide linear bearing system. Since the surface profile is critical I am going to carry out a grinding process on it.
My question is:
What is the heat treating process (i.e. temperature, time, and hardness that can be achieved) that this material has to go through (obviously prior to grinding) and are there any things I should know.
I am not really a steel person having mainly seemed to use stainless and aluminium
All help would be appreciated.
Cheers
