Is there a standard for what color handrails should be on mezzanines, catwalks, and stairs? Also, is there a color standard for moving objects (orange,) machine guarding (yellow,) etc? For industrial use. For my future reference, how is it best to look up these standards?

The OSHA CFR does not designate a color for the use in hand rails, mid-rails or toe boards. It is a general industrial practice to paint them a contrasting color (yellow) to distinguish them from other areas of your facility.

Machine guarding also does not have to be a certain color. Most machine guards are the same color as the machine, so it is really user option.

Movable objects are usually something you want to have as a contrasting color in order to separate it from other non-moving objects. This is simply a safety factor and a best practice, and not a standard.

The best place to look up OSHA standards is on the OSHA website, and go their standards link. All the OSHA standards are searchable and all are free to use. Other standards, NFPA, ANSI, etc. are by subscription.

Hope this helps.
