Hi All,

I need to design a simple press. Our R+D guys currently use a small arbor press (press in/out small bushings etc). They would like something with a handle and perhaps an acme thread with a handle on it that they could turn to advance it.

This is something we want to make inhouse. Do any of you have any pictures or ideas you might want to share?

thanks,

Do a google search for fly presses.

If you are around wheel operated piping valves take a look the valve bonnets and yokes.

If your desired press is large enough look at the hammer valve hand wheels. This arrangement makes a very powerful press to unseat bushings, pins, and bearings.

Don's press screw is simple enough, but it leaves you with the task of designing a supporting frame.

Just go buy a suitably large C clamp and modify accordingly.

Thanks for the input people, much appreciated
