Gut Riser - NFPA 13R

hey guys just want to ask

what do we mean by "Gut Riser" right after the DCDA on an NFPA 13R design?

Yeah, that is a strange term. It's probably slang for a riser manifold. Can you post a detail?
 
im not so sure also,

i dont know if this is an acronym thats being done in the field.
 
Actually this was the instruction given to me for a 3 story apt bulding to provide a "Gut Riser" after the DCDA of watts 757,

its a small project 3 units per floor, i was thinking of providing residential riser of reliable

but i really dont what he meant by gut riser,

wanna have something conrete before i respond
 
Any other details/ spec what is required

Such as flow switch and drain only?
 
I have heard a few old timers refer to Riser Checks a "straight gut" valves. But I am in the Pittsburgh area. None of us speak the Kings English [wink]
