Guidance on imported soil thicknesses

Hi all.

Can someone point me towards UK literature concerning guidance on required thicknesses of imported clean soil with respect to contaminated sites? I need to know what sort of protection needs to overlie mildly contaminated soil so that it could be used as a garden (for example).
