Hi,

1. Need to know design vehicular load on concrete guard rails in parking structures.

2. width which can be assumed effective for a certain value of lateral point load.

Our Case: Cantilver guard rail with base connection and expansion joints at every 15ft o/c).

Canstructural,

OBC, Part 4 requires vehicle guardrails for storage garages to be designed for a concentrated load of 22kN applied horizontally outwards at any point 500 mm above the floor surface.

It may vary in the NBCC or other provincial jurisdictions.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

Can we assume storage garagaes as parking garages or warehouses. Vehicle hit a guard rail in storage garage may be the same case as in parking garages.

As a general rule outside Canada, what design value you guys use in designing guard rails for parking structures.
