I am working on a mechanical device that is to be suspended from a moving object. The mechanical device will inevitably swing and vibrate. One of my requirements is that the mechanical device is always pointing downwards. Will a gyroscope or gyro-stabilizer control this? Does anyone know of any gyro-stabilizer companies? The weight of the device is approx. 5-10kg.

Thanks

It will be difficult to stabilise the payload if the supporting structure is light.

The classic solution (if you can avoid resonances in the supporting structure) is to use a gyroscope to detect movements and have a servo (probably three axis) counteract the movement.

The modern piezo-electric gyroscopes are small static devices that need no maintenance and consume very little power. Murata is one producer and they make millions of them - so price is relatively low. Have a look at their product page

You probably need to provide additional information. I'm visuizing a ball suspended by a long rope and you want to keep the ball from rotating in three axes?
