Is it possible, in Catia, to group certain elements in the Tree? In essence, to make a formulation simmilar ot as follows:

- Pipes
- pipelineRoute(1)
- PipelineRoute(2)

- Channel
- ChannelProfileSketches
- Profile(1)
- Profile(2)
- WaterProfileSketches
- Profile(1)

etc...?

You can do a lot of this kind of grouping in GSD inside your Geometric Sets. Just create more Geometric Sets. You can create a Geometric Set that has it's parent another Geometric Set. You can also change what Geometric Set a given element belongs to, and what order they appear in the tree. All of this is assuming that you are NOT using Hybrid Design.

In Part Design (inside your Part Body), it's a little more difficult.

Good put, on the hybrid design, Jim.

I do this sort of thing (with groupings) all of the time. If you are an organized person, creating Part Bodies (or Geometrical Sets, as they are now called) should be your best friend. They don't take up much room, and they make it much easier to deal with data downstream.

My personal opinion, is that not only is what you are asking possible, but that it would be very uncourteous of you NOT to do it. If I had one thing to say about GSD "best practices," this example would be my contribution.

Good luck.
