Has anybody had to deal with the grounding of Victaulic piping?

We are currently having discussion within our office on whether or not each section of Victaulic pipe has to be grounding to ensure that the whole pipe line is continuous. Some people are saying that the pipe coupling will isolate each section of pipe therefore requiring a ground strap across each coupling. Other are saying if the pipe support brackets are grounded that that's enough.

Any thought, experiences?

Thanks

A Victaulic fitting it is a development in which a groove is cut around each end of pipe instead of the usual threads; two ends of pipe are then lined up and a rubber ring is fitted around the joint; two semicircular bands, forming a sleeve, are placed around the ring and are drawn together with two bolts, which have a ridge on both edges to fit into the groove of the pipe; as the bolts are tightened, the rubber ring is compressed, making a watertight joint, while the ridges fitting in the grooves make it strong mechanically. It seems to me this fitting is not destined to be electrical connector. If the pipe is a grounding mean, I don't think this fitting will do the job. If the pipe is not covered with insulating material as pvc or bitumin you need a jumper [see ERITECH Zinc Water Pipe Clamp Erico for instance. ] See: page 10
If it is insulating covering a based on threading fitting will be necessary.

Victaulic couplings and fittings will provide the necessary continuity for the purpose of grounding and bonding of a pipeline. The coupling keys are in direct contact with the groove in both the flexible and rigid coupling styles and will maintain continuity actoss the pipe joint. The gasket simply sits on the pipe OD and is used to span the gap between the pipe ends, it does not offer any electrical insulating properties. Victaulic couplings in both painted and galvanized meet the UL requirements for Grounding and Bonding Equipment and are listed as such on the UL website.

I think that is the definitive answer!
