anyone had any experience of design of ground anchors in a slope constructed out of pulverised fuel ash (pfa) for a retention structure at the top of an embankment. i have been trying to find any case histories on the topic to see if it is a feasible anchorage medium

henders1,

You could always sample the material to get an idea of the material characteristics, and then apply some judgement as to the suitability of the material for that use.

If the material exhibits any cementation or cohesion, you may want to use a Shelby tube or a double-wall soil sampler to obtain more or less intact specimens for lab testing.

Good luck.
