Grease Filter Pressure Drop

I'm a newbie here, but I did do a search before this post.

Any rule of thum on the static pressure drop I can expect to get across the grease filter of a commercial kitchen hood? (.5-1.5" W.G.?) I've found that manufacturers are not exactly fouthcoming with this info, not to mention building owners that want retrofits and have no info on their existing equip.

Many hoods are UL listed. If the mfr can't get you the info UL will have it on record. 1.5" sounds high, 0.5 sounds low.

If you get a belt drive fan with an oversized motor and adjustable sheaves, then you can cover a range of values.
A smaller diameter fan turning at high rpm is noisier and less efficient but it gives you better static pressure at lower air flow rates.

Some inspectors may allow a variable speed fan. Then you can modulate the fan speed based on hood operation.
