I am trying to design concrete box bridge crossing the secondary road, 30"dia pipes croosing the road in the box but the deck needs to be grated so any leaks in emergency has escape route to prevent vapor explosion. So I came up with the idea of grated deck supported on girder and beams. I need suggestion on the type of deck with some openings for vapor escape. I was thinking about the structural steel girder and beam with grating on top of it and girder supported on bridge abutment at ends. The span of the bridge is 35 feet. Any suggestion about the type of deck bridge with openings will be appreciated.
