graphite contamination

Dear All,

I'm am facing a situation where pipes delivered from pipe mill, normally ready to be coated, are in fact highly contaminated by graphite scale which we can not easily remove by standard water washing.

Do you have any suggestion?

What do you mean by graphite scale and what pipe material are you using?

I think you are referring to Mill scale. Normally this is removed by chemical cleaning acid. If you are referring to oil and grease then this is generally removed by hot alkaline chemical cleaning.

I have another question...which could be for you the effect any residual graphite onto pipe surface when heated at 240°C before application of the FBE?
