i was just wondering if a person can become a P.E. with only a BS degree in civil engineering. i know this might be a stupid question, but i was just curious. thanks

Of course!

1) You need an ABET accrediated degree or equivilent
2) You need to pass trhe FE exam
3) You need 4 or 5 years experiance
4) You need to pass the PE exam.

Some states allow you to become a PE without a degree as long as you pass the exams & have enough experiance. Texas lets you become a PE with the endorsement of a number of PE's without an exam.

Check out for lots of info about becomming a PE. They also have links to every state board so you can find out your state's requirements. I found that their study material were the best. I also took their "passing zone" an online review course. Bottom line - I passed the FE & PE both on my first try after being out of school for over 17 years. (I passed my PE in civil and I have a BSChE). I also passed both with high grades. Clifford H Laubstein
