This one has been annoying the locals.

I find this line interesting:

“As part of the design process, the District did extensive studies on the impacts of the project, including wind tunnel testing of a scale model of the Golden Gate Bridge under high winds ... The new musical tones coming from the bridge are a known and inevitable phenomenon." Cosulich-Schwartz said.

So they knew this was going to happen and went ahead and did it anyways?

Also, why make a such a change to reduce wind loading when the bridge has had nearly a century to prove its design to be sufficient?

Did you listen to the recording. Its not going to make the Top Forty outside of Transylvania.

Reduced wind load surely would tend to extend fatigue life.

So they tested and found some noise, but completely blew it on scaling the noise level up to full bridge levels?

Yeah. I'd guess go. Its a pretty damn big base fiddle they got there.

Well at least it isn't singing the way the original Tacoma Narrows bridge (aka "Galloping Gertie") did...

Seeing as it's a wind instrument, would you settle for a big base flute?[wink][cheers]
