GMP Piping for stainless steel systems - Are flanged joints allowed

For piping design of GMP systems is there an EU / British standard which must be followed.

The current systems on a unit we have is clamp ring. Is there an EU standard or reference which dictates this.

First define GMP please. I've been around a long time, but not come across that before and can't be bothered to google it.....

Is this a sanitary/hygienic system?
If so then it is likely designed to ASME BPE or EHEDG.
These 'tri-clams' are common since these systems require frequent disassembly for cleaning.

The tri-clamp system also ensures concentricity of the flanges and the gasket has a raised ring for centering. This all helps to ensure a smooth bore for sanitary purposes. Flanges can create steps and pockets that are difficult to clean by flushing.

However there is no standard for the flanges and clamps.
Different manufacturers use different thickness and angles.
They are not interchangeable.
You must use one brand only.

The requirement is based on ability to easy clean, sanitization and inspection.
