What is the best way of gluing 2 molded HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) parts, fast in an industrial setting? Right now we have resorted to MEK. It is cumbersome and smell is extremely unpleasant!

Any help is appreciated.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives - choose your curing speed and required viscosity and off you go.

Talk to manufacurer's - eg Loctite (only one I know I'm afraid! - we use their Grade 406 for ABS - works a treat)

Cheers

If you are going for large volume industrial use, I think I would go the ultrasonic vibration welding. Lots of machine suppliers out there to help you. Start with the back of the Assembly Mag advertising pages or Product Design Mag. If you are going for lower volume, I might try hot melt adhesive and a holding fixture if the parts are not self aligning and fixutring.
