Hello,

I use Microstation v7 to design alot of electrical systems (motor starters etc.). Each job I work on has approximately 10 to 20 drawings files, all very repetitive in nature. Each schematic is drawn in 3 different ways, single line, ladder diagram and wiring diagram - all representing the same thing.

How can I make it so when I make a change in drawing 1 to component x it makes the same change in drawings 2 and 3 to the same component x?

Reference Files

Separate the files of single line, ladder diagram and wiring diagram. Use reference files for each file and your changes will automatically update in a contract type plot file sheet.

I still don't get it.

Unfortunately in my line of work we do alot of drafting/design using microstation, yet we have not advanced past the draw and print functions. I have used reference files, but only to copy parts of a drawing to another.

Let's try again... what if I have a motor in drawing 1,2, and 3 and it is labelled as being 350HP in all. Later it changes to a 250HP. How do I change it once and have it change on all 3? Simple example but will help me get started.

Some bad news for you -- what you want to do is impossible. Microstation files store lines, dot, dashes and text as you draw them. It has simply no clue as to what line denotes your cables, what point is a plug and what text is a voltage.
