I thought everyone knew about Lindsay and Gingery books. I have some that are so old they are written in Olde English. Lindsay books have graced the pages of Popular Mechanics and Popular Science for many years. In fact you could find their ads in any magazine that had anything to with do-it-yourself projects.
I've even given it a reference in Eng-Tips.
