Before you do anything else, search your drive for the file name with any extension. Find the BAK file and rename it something.DWG. Second - the viewports are "windows" into model space, so there have to be objects in model space if there was something in the viewports. Were the viewports in paper space on a layout? What version of AutoCAD? In model space, thaw all layers, make all layers visible, zoom extents. Still nothing? Then Undo Back. Still nothing?

Joeastro- I am trying to figure out what you are trying to say and I'll be"dipped" if I can make any sense of your problem. Are the viewports in model space or paper space?
You can not erase the viewports on model space but they can be erased in paper space without affecting the drawings. You can join viewports in model space and all drawings would also remain intact. Do a Zoom All in model space perhaps your drawings are tucked somewhere. Also get rid of R14 you can not get tech support for R14 and ACAD 2000 which in itself was a terrific upgrade of R14.

I have created objects in paperspace that I can only view/use in paperspace. When I have to use them in modelspace, I have to copy (in paperspace) and paste (in modelspace). The object remains on the same layer in model space and is accessable like any other item in modelspace. I have never checked if the paperspace copy is effected by changes to the modelspace copy.
