hi there -

anyone out there still using Cosmos/m / geostar?

I'm looking for a little advice on "releasing prescribed displacements" in non-linear analysis.

thanks,
Andrew

Yes.

I have done that. Going to have to dig a little as it involves using a particular number for the displacement. Seems like 999 or 9999 did the trick. But I'll have to look.

You will find the documentation in NSTAR.pdf, p. 5-24 Release of Global Prescribed Displacements. You can keep the constraint forces or release them. The rate at which you release the displacements determines whether you need a dynamic analysis or not.
