Can anyone help me...

Is there a legal requirement for a Standby Generator to have an EPO fitted to the installation and is their any stipulation on where this should be?

Thanx

The set is in UK, it is containerised set living outside in a company car park...

it is a hard wired set 150kVA...anything else you need to know?

I assume that it will have to conform to IEEE, ISO and IEC regs but this is partly what I would like to know more on.

Thanks for the help...

In the US it would be required by NFPA 110 but there are exceptions.

NFPA 110 doesn't require an EPO, although an EPO does satisfy it. NFPA 110-2005 para 5.6.5.6 only requires a remote manual stop station be provided- this is often met simply by the generator control panel. I'm aware of no other regulations requiring EPO in Europe or the US.

Per NFPA 110-5.6.5.6 a remote manual stop is required for Emergency Power Supply systems. The system you described is a stanby optional system, therefore a remote manual stop is not required.

Local stop button at the control panel does not meet "remote" stop station, therefore the EPO usually moundted away from the generator. EPO although stands for emergency power off, it is a manual stop station.

Also insurance underwriters may require them.
