General rules for sizing of chillers

Can anybody help? are there any general rules for the sizing of chillers in an industrial application? I am familiar with the heat loss calcs but not for chiller sizing, does it work the same way i.e. delta T.

Sorry i was not clear in my origanal message, how do you size a chiller compared to the sq footage of the building.

The Magic Line was " In an Industrial Application"....

Carrier, Krack and Dunham Bush, as well as a host of others, have distributed manuals aimed right at establishing Heat Loads for industrial buildings, much of it aimed at the food industry...

As for Rules of Thumb: Continental has a collection of them for large spaces doing a variety of processes...

If this is an inherently ventilated space, that is it needs O/D air to make it habitable, the cooling load can easily be many multiples greater than that which would be required for conventional air conditioning...Ask some of the Air Handler manufacturers.

Hope this helpful, even if not very specific. Describe the building and the process and the desired interior conditions (temperature, humidty, local temperature differences and so on) and we maybe can get specific.

Do you mean an industrial air conditioning application or cooling some kind of machine?
