Is it possible to acquire a premixed methane/air compressed bottle? In the same manner of purchasing a bottle of propane or a bottle of methane. I know its probably extremely dangerous and I'd initially assume that no one supplies such a thing but this is actually a precursor to something else I'm thinking about so bear with me.

No. But you could easily buy one of each and hook them up to each other. Open both valves and allow the gases to equalize, and now you have two bottles of mixture. I would be extremely careful though.

Thanks Kyle.
I kind of figured that. Actually what I'm doing now is very similar to what you suggest, figured premixing would make the output more consistent by eliminating the potential error from waiting on sensors, pressure regulators, valve switching, etc. Not to mention speed up the process a bit. Its one of those things, I'm an EE major what can I say...

Ah yes, the EE majors. As my one friend says (he's an EE guy), "you (me the ME) build the machine, but I give it a brain". Just curious, what's the project for? You can also find me through my website.

I know what I start thinking when mixing combustible gases... fun! I sometimes work in a chem research lab from time to time, can easily get carried away.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. We're just getting started on our own company. We're still with our previous companies while in the start-up phase.

Yes, mechanical engineers need electrical engineers and vise versa. Their different takes on technology make better products. Sometimes we call the chemical engineer...
