Hi all,

When you shift the speed of a PMDC motor using a gearbox, does the torque-speed characteristic of that particular motor also change or will it be still the same curve but with a different operating point?

Thanks in advance
Hadi

The torque- speed curve at the motor shaft remains the same. Obviously , at the output shaft the torque is increased by the gear ratio and the speed is reduced by the same ratio.

Be careful with the gearbox efficiency. It will reduce the torque.
