Hi.

Looking for some clarification on the use of “Profile of Surface” in conjunction with basic dimensions.

Is it acceptable to directly attach a Feature Control Frame to a basic dimension?

For example, I have a drawing of a part featuring a flat surface designated as datum “A”.
I then have a basic dimension between this datum and an adjacent feature… and attached to this basic dimension is the FCF for “Profile of Surface”

Is this generally acceptable?

Since profile of a surface is applied to a surface, the FCF should be tagged to the surface, not a basic dimension.
