What would be your approach to dimensioning and tolerancing a dodecahedron? Similar to the one from the link below but machined from aluminum solid. I want the faces to have good alignment (angle and position) and a hole in the center of the face to be centered on face.

CLos,

Applying a profile tolerance on all your surfaces is completely meaningful and feasible.

How are you doing to inspect it?

I suppose my datums would be the bottom face and the center axis of the facing top/bottom holes. I'm mounting something to the face and the hole on each side; and I care about the pointing accuracy of this assembly. The holes are meant to be pilot holes, so I care about the diameter and straightness. The face controls the depth of the assembly, so the profile/flatness is critical. We have a CMM available to us and I think I could measure these features.
