For the gas meter room, code requires a vent from the gas meter room to the outdoors. My gas meter room is in the cellar and I would like to terminate the vent to the outdoors at the face of the first floor exterior wall. My question is: how high do i need to be from the ground floor( sidewalk). I cannot find anywhere in code what my minimum height has to be. thanks.

There is no section in the IFGC which indicates this. I have used the Appendix C material for exhaust flues as a guide.

Gas utility companies usually have their own guidelines, and sometimes will cover it. Good practice would be as far away from people, openings into the building, vandalism reach, etc as practical. You also don’t want to run it too far to impose too much back pressure.

If you want some equivalent code to follow, you can look at the mechanical code exhaust section and ventilation sections and try to meet those exhaust discharge separations from air intakes and building openings.

You can also contact your local fire department.
