What is the gas lift principle and how does it apply to centrifugal pumps?
 
gas lift is an oil production technology where gas is injected into the well fluid "down hole". The purpose of this is to lower the density of the liquid collumn in the well so that the liquid can flow more easily. The gas is usually transported down in the annulus between the casings that makes up the well. (im actually not a petroleum/drilling person so some of the terms may be wrong but the pricple is ok).

Its not related to centrifugal pumps in any way.
 
MortenA gave the right definition in petroleum engineering as a procedure to increase the well's production.
In Chemical Engineering, gas lift is the solids movement operation in which an upward-flowing gas stream in a closed conduit or vessel is used to lift and move powdered or granular solid material. Again it has no connection with centrifugal pumps.

Can it be that Grounwood meant to ask the relation between centrifugal pumps and suction lift ? [pipe]
