Hello,

I am modelling a gas absorber in HYSYS. The simulation requires the user to input the pressures for both the overhead and bottoms streams. How can I get the simulator to compute the pressure drop across the column whose dimensions are known?

Thanks!

This is the data you take from the plant actual operation.
If tower is aleady sized in design mode, pressure drop can be calculated based upon feed rate and compositions of bottom and overhead streams. From your question, I see it only as two equilibrium flash calculations.

I'm not familiar with Hysys, but you will still need to give the program an estimated pressure drop. Then with the detailed tray data it should calculated the pressure drop that you can then at least readjust the input estimated top and bottom pressures.

RituR, use a pressure drop of 0.12 psi/actual tray. In theory you have to update this once the tray layout is known, it practice it is usually not worth the effort.
