Functionally Graded Material

Hello,

I want to model a functionally graded material(FGM) in ABAQUS. I am reading literature and most of the people of modeling in ABAQUS, I am still trying in the process of reading information about FGM.

Can anybody who have developed FGM in abaqus guide me the way to go?

I did not developed any FGM related model, however, my understading of FGM is that the material properties are dependent on spatial coordinates.

If so, for modeling a FGM you can:
-assign different material properties to individual elements
-make the material properties dependent on field variables and change the value of field variable at different nodes according to the spatial distribution of the material properties.
-write your own constitutive subroutine, which is is supplied with the material point coordinates, and therefore allows local modeling of the material response
