I am needing to design a filter to clean up very brown glycerine, which looks like used transformer oil.

I'd like a simple design idea that I could build and test at home.

My idea is to design a filter using kitty litter, and push the glycerine through it using pressure.

Any ideas are truley appreciated. Thanks.
 
First be carefull of old transformer oil that contains PCB's
Secondly you would need to determine that the media you are considerting (cat litter for example) is selectively absorb the contaminant - much of this litter is clay -
You can get speicific information from some of the the big suppliers of filter aids - Bentonite is an example
