FRP piping optimum design velocity??

I can’t help with an answer to your question; however, even if I had an extensive working knowledge of fiberglass reinforced plastic pipe, I still could not answer your question because it is not specific enough.

Optimized for what?
Lowest first cost?
Lowest life cycle cost?
Installation with unskilled labor?
Reliability?
Fastest installation time?
Or some combination of the above?

After it is determined what a design should be optimized for, the following information may need to be considered:
Design Temp
Design Pressure
Length of pipe
Fluid properties
Flow
Cost of power for pumping
Cost of pump stations
Cost of piping material
Labor cost for fabrication and installation
Design life
Engineering costs
Etc.

A 100 ft line would not warrant a detailed analysis of the above; however, a 100 mile line would. From my perspective, a lot of information needs to be considered before an optimum design velocity can be established.

The usual way to select a diameter for a process line with a given flow is by starting with a given optimum economical velocity, and selecting the diameter with :
D = Square root ( Flow*4/Pi*Vec ).
Common carbon steel economical velocities are between 1,5 m/s and 2,5 m/s.But FRP is more expensive than c.s.,so its design velocity should be higher.
I agree that is required a lot of information to get the result.I was only trying to get the information in a direct way to avoid a long calculation.
Any way, thank you for your comments.

Actually that is my question too.
I used Generaux formula to get IDopt, But I need price of FRP pipes in terms of this formula:
Price($)=A*D^n Where D is diameter
If you dont know about Generaux, it is a formula based on cpital investment of piping and pump ,and operating cost of system, caused by electerical consumption of pump.

Doesn't the economical velocity alsodepend on pipe diameter?
