Free Edges and Discontinuity in mesh

Hello All,

I am new to ABAQUS and have couple of questions.

How to find discontinuity in meshed part. Is there any way to find out. If so how to merge the nodes with in the limit?

In Mesh-Module
To check:
Tools -> Query -> Mesh gaps/intersections

To merge single nodes:
Mesh -> Node -> Merge

To merge two mesh parts in Assembly-Module:
Instance -> Merge/Cut

I appreciate all your timely response. I have one more question regarding center points of holes in an assembly.

Is there any script for getting the center point of holes in a model?.

It would be a great help.

It depends what you really mean with that question. If you want a script that finds all holes in your model and then prints out the center or creates reference points in it, then the answer is no.
If you want to select a hole and directly get the center coordinates or a reference point, then the answer is yes.

Some time a ago I've created for myself a plugin that does exactly this. Additionally a coupling can be automatically added between face region and reference point. But as mentioned, the user has to select the faces manually.

You should find the plugin attached.
Be aware that it works only with A/CAE v2016 or higher. In versions before that is a needed Python command not in the API.
