I have a question concerning the grinding of a rotating metal shaft. The grinding wheel is loaded against the spinning metal shaft but the grinding wheel is spinning faster than the metal shaft to polish the surface of the metal shaft. In setting up the free body diagram to determine the kinetic coefficient between the two spinning rollers and the rollers are spinning in the same direction, which direction is the friction force relative to each roller?
