I need to develop a fracture model of an existing reinforced concrete wall which contains numerous cracks(the wall is about 50 yrs old). The main goal is to evaluate the reduced strength of the structure due to cracking, What I have is a linear static model that shows the stress distribution contours and only explains the cause of the cracking relevant to tension. So I need to refine my linear elastic model further to achieve the goal. As for the modeling of cracking, ACI 446 recommends two approaches: (1) Discrete and (2) smeared crack models - they look complicated. Is there any simplified way to consider fracture mechanics in a linear elastic model??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
