This should be easy for a EE, not so simple for a ME like me. I am restoring an old 1/3 Hp, 110/220V Delco motor. I will be using it as 110V. There are 4 wires, 2-red, 2-blk. Which wires do I connect? The brush assembly has an adjustment which rotates the whole brush assembly. Is this motor reversible? The tag has no direction specified. Thanks for your help.

Is this a universal AC single phase motor or a DC motor?

Please write all the name plate data.

Sounds like an old REPULSION type motor! Rotation is determined by rotating the brush assembly.

As for its's connection, it sounds as if it has been rewound!

Which pairs have continuity?

Can you disassemble the motor and descibe what wires go to what and the ohms of each pair and if all the leads have continuity to each other?
